However yesterday went — the good, the messy, the stuff you’re still replaying in your head — today doesn’t start where yesterday left off. It starts fresh.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

You’re not carrying yesterday’s failures into today.

That verse isn’t a suggestion — it’s a promise. God’s mercy toward you isn’t a leftover from yesterday running low. It’s brand new, every single morning, on schedule, whether you deserve a fresh start or not. Especially when you don’t feel like you deserve it.

So if you lost your patience yesterday. If you said yes when you meant no, or no when you meant yes. If you spent the day anxious instead of trusting — none of that is the verdict on today. Today is new mercy. Today you get to start again.

What to do with a fresh mercy

  • Don’t open today by rehearsing yesterday’s mistakes. Let them stay in yesterday.
  • Ask God for what you need for today specifically — not the whole week, just today.
  • Extend that same fresh-start grace to someone else who had a hard yesterday too.

His faithfulness isn’t dependent on your performance. It shows up new, every morning, just like the sun. Walk into today like you believe that.
