Personal Development

A space to help you grow in self-love, master your mindset, and manifest the life you deserve through daily motivation and positive habits.

Some mornings I catch myself talking to God more than I’m listening to Him. Coffee in hand, prayer list a mile long, asking for this and that — and somewhere in the middle of all my asking, I forget He’s trying to say something back.

I think that’s the hardest part of faith some days. Not believing He’s there. Believing He’s speaking — quietly, gently, in the ordinary moments — and trusting myself to recognize His voice over all the noise.

1 Kings 19 tells us God wasn’t in the wind, wasn’t in the earthquake, wasn’t in the fire. He was in the still, small voice after all of it passed. Not the dramatic. The quiet.

That’s convicted me lately. I’ve been praying for the earthquake — the big breakthrough, the obvious sign — when maybe He’s just been waiting for me to get still enough to hear the whisper.

If you’ve been feeling like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, friend, I don’t think it’s because God went silent. I think it’s because life got loud. And learning to hear Him again isn’t about doing more — it’s about slowing down enough to notice what’s already being said.

That’s actually the whole heart behind Still, Small Voice — I wrote it for exactly this season, when you know God is near but you’ve lost the practice of listening. And if you’re looking for a daily rhythm to help you actually sit in that stillness instead of just reading about it, Grace Unfolding walks you through Scripture a little at a time, all year long, so listening becomes a habit and not just a hope.

So today, wherever you are — folding laundry, sitting in the carpool line, finally getting five quiet minutes — I want to encourage you to just stop talking for a second. Ask Him one honest question. Then wait.

He’s not silent. I promise you, He’s not silent. We’ve just gotten out of practice waiting for the whisper.

With so much love,
Momma J 🤍
